Braids are so cute and versatile. You can do them at any age, and with varying levels of complexity. They look great if you’re 5, 25 or 85. You can have a couple of simple pigtails or look like something out of Game of Thrones. They perfect for going to school in and for getting married in. Here are a few of our favorite braided hairstyles:
Sometimes all you need is a simple plait with a few daisies. You don’t have to get super complicated with your hair to make it look good. Simple is often better.
2 – Roses
This is a more complex and adult version of the daisies one. Whether you’re going to class or it’s your wedding day, braids and flowers look wonderful together. Tangled-themed wedding anyone?
3 – Short and sweet
You don’t have to be Rapunzel to rock some pretty braids. They are so versatile that you can make them with most hair lengths. It helps if you have thick hair, or can thicken your hair with some gel or mousse.
4 – Long and thin
However, you can also enjoy braids with finer hair. These two French braids are super cute for a workout or to go to school in, and they look very 90s. Pair them with some cute sunglasses and shorts or a cute dress and you’re good to go!
5 – Easy elegance
A sense of elegance is so easy to achieve with braids, and it’s so effortless. This style is one of the easiest to pull off, and looks so feminine and romantic.
6 – Upside down bun
You can turn things upside down a bit by having the braid at the bottom instead of the top, giving a regular top bun something a little more interesting at the back. This is great if you want to stick to your usual style but give it something different and cute.
7 – Upside down bow
Same principle as the upside down bun, but instead with a bow! This is fairly easy to carry out, yet looks very intricate. We can imagine Jessica Day from New Girl working this style quite effortlessly. This would look so cute with a 50s dress and a cardigan!
8 – Bow over braid
This is that classic girl-next-door look but with a twist (or a braid). Even though there are two things going on here, it doesn’t look cluttered. We’re digging the bow over braid look.
9 – The Big Braided Bun
An easy and elegant look for prom and a wedding, this side braid is so beautiful and again, fairly easy to make. Great if you want to show off your shoulders but also have something more interesting going on than a simple bun.
10 – The Elven Maiden
We can easily imagine Arwen and Eowyn from the Lord of the Rings sporting this style. So easy, so cute and with that certain mystical twist. Conclusion: Braids are awesome.
