7 reasons we’re super excited to see the new Ghostbusters movie

If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? The answer should be ghostbusters! This iconic movie from the 80s is back to entertain us 30 years later, the third film of its kind but this time with a beautiful twist; the leading men are now played by four wonderful leading ladies. Without further ado, here are 7 reasons we’re excited to see the reboot:

1. The original was amazing

Ray Parker, Jr. – Ghostbusters

Parties and weddings have been themed after the Ghostbusters of the 80s. The song comes on and everyone knows the lyrics. Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in their youth wooed even those of us born in the 90s. This iconic movie about three university scientists who set up their Ghostbusting business after getting fired and going around New York city fighting ghosts has never been forgotten.

2. The trailer looks awesome

3. Two words: Kristen Wiig

Kristen Wiig made a huge splash in the movie industry with her role as Annie in Bridesmaids which was directed by Paul Feig, director of the upcoming Ghostbusters movie. Competing with Helen for the admiration of her friend Lillian, this film was a hilarious tale of female friendship and we can’t wait to see her in another girl-powered role.

4. Another two words: Melissa McCarthy

You may have seen her in The Heat (also directed by Paul Feig) alongside Sandra Bullock where she plays a ballsy cop, or you may have seen her as the sweet Suki in Gilmore Girls. Wherever she goes, this versatile actress is always a great pleasure to watch.

5. Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones

Known primarily for her sketch comedy work impersonating the likes of Justin Bieber and Ellen DeGeneres on Saturday Night Live and The Big Gay Sketch Show, Kate McKinnon is the youngest of the leading cast. Leslie Jones is another Saturday Night Live comedian that we don’t know enough about yet, but are super excited to see this year!

6. Paul Feig is the director

Paul Feig also directed Bridesmaids, The Heat, Spy and several episodes of The Office. We know he won’t let us down!

7. We still need the ghostbusters

It may be 30 years later but we still very much need the ghostbusters. Ghosts still haunt the cities of the world and we still can’t get enough of those ghostbuster outfits. We think these leading ladies will do the reboot justice, and at the hands of Paul Feig, we’re sure we won’t be disappointed.
