On the 22nd of April this year, a 100% full moon, known as a “pink moon” will be visible, according to NASA. A pink moon is just the full moon in April which heralds the arrival of pink flowers such as moss pink and wild ground phlox. It is a very pretty sight, so we have written some ideas for you to get the most of the experience.
1. Astronomical Observatory
Many areas have an observatory people can visit to take a close look at the sky. Here is a list of observatories in the US. What better way to enjoy this phenomenon than with telescopic detail and scientifically accurate information? This would make for a great outing with friends and an extremely romantic date.
2. Tree house
If you want to make a real event of the full moon, why not hire a tree house for the evening and enjoy the night in luxury and nature at the same time? These are some tree houses you can rent for the evening, and you can find many more on Airbnb.
If you are lucky enough to live near a lake, or within driving distance of one, why not take a boat out onto the water with some good company, a guitar and a blanket and watch as the moon reflects off
the surface of the water? Double moon glow!
4. Mountain top
Nothing is more rewarding after a long hike up a mountainside than the stunning view below… Nothing, except for a beautiful full moon above. Grab your walking boots, a tent, sleeping bag and torch (and of course a flask of hot chocolate or other beverage of your choice) and give yourself a night you will always remember.
If you would rather enjoy a leisurely evening of moon-gazing, why not just venture into your garden, or a friend’s garden, and have a girly sleepover? With a fridge full of food at your fingertips and working plumbing facilities, this is certainly the most relaxing and easy way to enjoy this night. You could even have a barbecue and some music and turn it into a full moon party. Fancy dress optional.
If you live somewhere without a garden, and it’s safe to do so, you can always venture to a local park to have a midnight picnic and enjoy the moon with friends. Bring some sparkling lemonade or hot chocolate in flasks, lay out the blankets and remember to some pics!
