A plethora of poems have been written about the beauty and elegance of snow. Snow is undeniably lovely (unless you live somewhere where they have “snow days” and people literally get snowed-in… but even that sounds awesome, no school!). Here are our top favorite things to do when the white magic comes floating on down.
1.Taking your puppy for its first snowy walk
Most dogs will go a little bit crazy the first time they encounter snow. It is super cute! Check out this video of a dog sliding in the snow to get an idea of the fun you can have with your canine friend this winter!
2. Binge-watching Gilmore Girls
If you’ve never watched this heart-warming show about a mom and daughter who are best friends and live in an adorable East-coast town, then you need to get your butt on Netflix ASAP! If you’re snowed-in or just don’t want to go outside into the cold, find your warmth in this heart-warming, witty series. They’ve released another season, many years later, to show us where the Gilmore Girls have ended up and we are so excited to curl up in front of the screen and feast our eyes.
3. Making a snow-woman
Or snow bear! Or snow anything! Release your inner – or outer! – child and make something cool, make something crooked, make … something! Even if it just looks like a pile of snow with a carrot stuck on top. And then watch as it melts away or the dog pees on it. Oh well, such is life! Building a snow formation is the ultimate living-in-the-now activity of the winter season – and it teaches a vital lesson; YOLO!
4. Snowball fights!
As long as everyone plays nice and no one uses the icy snow, snowball fights are the bomb diggity. Sort of. Let’s just go with that. A great way to let out your frustration and also bond with your neighbors, snowball fights are the pillow fights of the dark months.
Sledding is one of the best snowy activities ever! Find your local slope – every town has one somewhere – and see how fast you can go! You can have sledding competitions, or combine sledding with a snowy picnic! Sweet.
6. Making igloos
Igloos warm up from the inside but stay intact if you make them properly, so we think that everyone should make one if they have enough snow! A home away from home, what fun! For instructions, here is a 10-minute video!
7. Ice skating!
Grab some buddies and get skating! Hot chocolate, a good workout and laughter – the perfect combo!
8. Walking through the forest
Grab your camera or phone and get in touch with nature. The snow-covered trees and light bouncing off the ground make for some gorgeous shots, and the perfect place to relax and get back to basics.
